A horse safari is like no other experience. The thrill of being at one with nature never fades. You move freely amongst the animals as if you’re one of them. High on a horse, you ride through a herd of eland or spot a lonely topi atop a termite mound. You feel the sun-warmed breeze on your face, see the grasses rippling beneath you, and hear birdsong trilling in the trees.

Ride with our thoroughbred horses

Our horses are thoroughbreds and thoroughbred-crossbreeds. They’re fully integrated to their environment and familiar with being amongst big game. Each horse has been carefully schooled, is exercised daily, and lives in specially designed, naturally cooled stables.Thoroughbreds are trained for the racetrack but prove themselves as versatile horses. Elegant, slender and lean horses, they require balance and experience from their riders. Hot blooded and surefooted, their reactions can be dramatic.Crossbreeds are bred to get the best out of the temperaments of both breeds.

Galloping free among wildlife

Form a special bond not only with your horse but with Mother Nature as you trot through the savannah. On four legs, you blend in with the wildlife, being accepted as one of their own. Horse riding is a joy as is, but in Maasai Mara, it gets taken to a new level. With riding grounds stretching open in front of you as far as the eye can see and a chorus of wildlife calling out to one another, it’s one of the most immersive safaris out there.

John, who has set all of this up is a fantastic horseman and a wonderful guide. I had the most magical morning riding out with them seeing three of the big 5. At all times I felt confident and well looked after. And to round the morning off we finished with the most delicious bush breakfast. A perfect morning in the bush on horseback, my very happy place.
